From 11th to 11th February was in Auckland, New Zealand held World Congress of Genetics Applied to Livestock Production. This event is specific in fact that is organized in 4-year cycle and we were this time there to present our results.

Work trip of doc. Ing. Radovan Kasarda, PhD., Ing. Nina Moravčíková, PhD. and Ing. Veronika Kukučková, PhD. from Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding Biology was part of projects APVV 14-0054 and VEGA 1/0742/1 realized at the department. After Madrid (ESP), Lincoln (USA), Edinburgh (GB), Guelph (CAN), Armidale (AUS), Montpelier (FRA), Belo Horizonte (BRA), Leipzig (GER) and Vancouver (CAN) was Auckland 11th in 44 years’ history of this project.

Local organizers were aware of challenge, that Auckland is one of most distant places in the World, and therefore needed to take high effort and prepare program, which will be attractive for participants, not only in connection with New Zealand science, culture, countryside and food, to make the trip worth. Possibility to recognize country was during excursions oriented on most important production branches of animal production in New Zealand: sheep, cattle, deer and horse, were was possible to see realized genetic gain directly in first lane of production and meet producers who trust and are happy from profitability achieved through genetic solutions.
